When it is recommended

A paediatrician may consider this panel for fatigue, pallor, reduced activity, changes in growth or weight, suspected iron or vitamin D deficiency, or possible thyroid dysfunction. CK is most relevant with muscle-related symptoms, while ASO is used when clinically indicated after streptococcal infection. The panel should ideally be discussed with a paediatrician.

What it helps assess

Helps assess signs of anaemia and inflammation, urine and glucose findings, iron stores using ferritin, thyroid function using TSH and free T4, vitamin D level, CK activity, and the immune response to streptococcal infection using ASO. Results should be interpreted in relation to the child's age, symptoms, and clinical examination.
